World Mental Health Day 2026: what your donations funded this year

Every October, on World Mental Health Day, we publish a plain accounting of where donor money actually went — not because we're required to, but because trust has to be earned continuously, not assumed once and forgotten.

Where the money went

This year, donor contributions funded new counseling capacity at three partner clinics, the first Academy of Success scholarship cohort of 50 students, continued development of the World Mental Health Fund Library ahead of its launch, and the general operating costs required to keep the Fund running lean.

We intentionally keep operating costs as low as we can justify without compromising the quality of the programs themselves. The majority of every dollar donated this year went to direct program funding — clinic grants, scholarships, and Library hosting and licensing — rather than overhead.

Why individual donations matter more than they feel like they do

We know a global crisis this size can make individual donations feel small next to numbers like 1.1 billion people affected worldwide. They aren't small. A $25 gift is a real portion of a real counseling session for a real person who otherwise would have gone without one this year.
